About Us

Bar Optimizer was created by Gregg Hanour, founder of two iconic nightspots in Southern California––the Shark Club (Costa Mesa) and Metropolis (Irvine). After retiring from the club business, Hanour started a bar consulting company. The first order of business was developing the Zone Alcohol Practices for Management and Owners™ (ZAPMO) seminar. The executive level training identifies sound alcohol management practices and demonstrates – by using proprietary algorithms grounded in research studies – how these practices are financially beneficial. In working with dozens of bar owners, he came to identify common problems. To help his clients maximize their bar profits, he created™. In providing secret shopper services and conducting bartender workshops, Hanour empowers clients with information to make more money, reduce liability risks, and improve customer service.
